Rumor: Is Dream Along with Mickey Closing?

Dream Along with Mickey, the stage show in front of Cinderella Castle is closing for refurbishments July 19-August 22, due to renovation and expansion of the hub.

However, the new rumor is that the show may not open after that August date--instead, that the show may be replaced.

I doubt they'd be this enthusiastic over the news.

I don't necessarily disagree with this rumor: the show is nearly 10 years old, having debuted back in 2006.



It could be time for a change.

But, I also don't think the show is dated. If it does indeed reopen, I wouldn't be disappointed. It's still a fun and entertaining story to this day, with plenty of beloved characters, despite the songs getting stuck in your head quite annoyingly easy.



I'll keep you posted on this rumor as it develops. Nevertheless, I promised Young Disney Freak I'd Skype her the show during my DCP--it's her favorite--so I better make sure to do that before July! (Also, I'll try and videograph the potentially final performance.)

However, there is a stage show confirmed to be closing for good.

Villains Mix and Mingle is performed at night during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Honestly, as much as I love all the Halloween-themed events and music at Walt Disney World, Villains Mix and Mingle may be my favorite.

So when I read that it wouldn't be performed this September and October, my heart dropped. I think the show is a fun, slightly racy way to bring out the villains--or rather, the more adult, darker side of Disney. Whatever show replaces it better incorporated the villains.

After all, it's their night.

With the recent release, I thought it appropriate to finally post and share this video of myself, TDM and our cousin Catie reviewing the movie – even though we videographed this over Christmas break!

Loki Joins Disney Infinity 2.0!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally come: Loki has joined the Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel line-up!

Unfortunately, 2.0 figurines don’t work with the original version my family owns, so while I won’t be picking Loki up to play with him, I’ll definitely be picking him up soon as a collectible piece!

‘Hunchback’ Musical Opens Today!

Paper Mill Playhouse debuts The Hunchback of Notre Dame tonight. The musical was the first Disney musical to premiere outside the US, having originally opened in Berlin, Germany in 1999. According to Playbill:

Produced in association with La Jolla Playhouse, the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame will feature Ciara Renée as Esmeralda, Michael Arden as Quasimodo and Patrick Page as Dom Claude Frollo. Book is by Peter Parnell, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Scott Schwartz directs. Performances begin March 4 with an opening date of March 15. Performances run through April 5. See show details.

I don’t know what you think, but it looks pretty fantastic to me! Personally, I believe The Hunchback of Notre Dame to have one of the most beautiful and chilling scores, which I’m glad was highlighted in the video. According to theatermania.com:

At each performance, 32 local choir members from the Continuo Arts Symphonic Chorus will serve as the onstage choral ensemble.

New Plot Details for 'Zootopia' Announced

A year from today, Disney’s next animated flick, Zootopia, premieres, as announced via several Disney social media websites.

In one year…#Zootopia. March 4, 2016. The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery. This appears to be a change to original plot details given at D23 two summers ago. As taken from IMDB:

In the animal city of Zootopia, a fast-talking fox who's trying to make it big goes on the run when he's framed for a crime he didn't commit. Zootopia's top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they're forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends.

Now, it appears the two have already been enlisted to work together on a case, but it could be that the new plot is simply expanding on the original details.

Either way, I can tell you I'm super excited, especially just because I love foxes so much! This movie reminds me a lot of Robin Hood, another Disney movie dear to my heart.

Meryl Streep Sings ‘She’ll Be Back' in Deleted Scene from 'Into the Woods'!

When Into the Woods was still under development, composer Stephen Sondheim wrote a whole new song just for Meryl Streep (as the Witch) to sing in the movie.



Eventually, the song and scene got cut, but those who buy the Blu-ray or Digital HD will get to see it!

Disney Movies Anywhere did release a sneak peek at the deleted scene featuring the song. But as director Rob Marshall said: he, Streep, Sondheim and James Lapine all decided that the movie was stronger without the song.



My thoughts: incredible! As a huge Meryl Streep fan, of course I appreciate it just for her performance. But even more so, the way Streep brings out the subtext – the Witch’s longing and uncertainty, trying to convince herself – really blows me away. She’s an amazing actress, as always, and this scene just proves it again.
