Dory Returns in 'Finding Dory' International Trailer

The first trailer for Finding Dory dropped three months ago and recently, an international teaser trailer has been released!

And while this trailer doesn't reveal any plot details, it does provide a chance to be reintroduced to our favorite blue tang, Dory, and humor Ellen DeGeneres brings to a beloved character.

The trailer may be short, simple and only 35 seconds, but it's also a hilarious 35 seconds.



I'm sure you'll agree with me that the last few lines are the best.

Are you excited for Finding Dory? The movie swims into theaters June 17 this year (and July 29 in the United Kingdom)!

More and More Dory in First 'Finding Dory' Trailer!

My absolute favorite Pixar movie is Finding Nemo, and my favorite character from the film is Dory.

Because Dory is my spirit animal.

So when Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory, announced the upcoming sequel would be all about our favorite blue fish, I freaked out!

We've been waiting forever to find Dory. Yesterday, we found her for a brief moment when the trailer debuted on Ellen's TV show!

Honestly, I'm freaking out so much that it's hard to write coherent thoughts. And as you'll see in my trailer reaction video (COMING SOON) below, I couldn't really do more than laugh. Because Ellen as Dory makes me genuinely laugh.

And that's exactly why I'm excited for this sequel. We're getting more and more Dory.



It'll be interesting to see how Pixar handles a movie about a fish who notoriously cannot remember...anything, basically. How ever will the plot -- I mean, our main character -- stay focused? But I put my faith in Pixar and Ellen. I know this will be an amazing movie.

It's not like we've been waiting more than ten years for this!

'The Good Dinosaur' International Trailer: Hear the Dinos Speak!

The first trailer for Pixar's upcoming The Good Dinosaur never highlighted the voices behind the dinos. But now we get to hear them in the first international trailer for the film!

Pixar Short 'Lava' Available on Disney Movies Anywhere for Limited Time!

If you saw Inside Out, you probably fell in love with the short "Lava" that played in front of the film.

If you didn't see Inside Out, you are missing out, twice.

Experience a Single Moment in Pixar's 'The Good Dinosaur' Trailer!

Pixar dropped the first trailer for its upcoming movie The Good Dinosaur, in theaters on Thanksgiving. The theme behind the trailer is "a single moment," and how such a moment can change history and even, everything.

One thing many fans (including myself) are a little unnerved by is the idea of pairing hyper-realistic backgrounds with cartoony characters, such as Arlo. I even noticed some of the dinosaurs, and especially that colorful lizard, are quite realistic when compared to Arlo.

Such a pretty little guy.

I can understand if it's a marketing thing -- a more cartoony Arlo will translate better to toys and won't scare children -- but at least make the rest of the film cartoonish in some sense.

Also, anyone else getting a The Land Before Time vibe? I'm excited to see how Pixar surprises us!

'Inside Out' Opens, Characters Appear in Parade Float at DCA

Pixar's Inside Out opens today, and at the Disney Freak's Blog, we couldn't be more excited! Very soon, I'll see the movie and post my review!

In conjunction with the film's release, the emotional stars of the movie are now appearing in a pre-parade float in Pixar Play Parade at Disney California Adventure.

I can't get over how cute Sadness is.
Also, I imagine that Fear and Disgust are on the other side.

Love using Riley's memories as props.

The meet and greet characters debuted at the Hollywood premiere and previously appeared at a special Inside Out meet-up at Downtown Disney earlier this month.

***UPDATE***

SoCal Attractions 360 has provided this short and sweet video of the pre-parade float. The emotions are created through animatronic figures versus costumed characters, which I didn't realize till I watched the video. Also, look very closely to find Fear!



I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in the float. While the animatronics are extremely well-done, with plenty of smooth movement, there's definitely a lack of energy. Perhaps using more music and less dialogue would help, and giving the dancers something to do that's more interactive with the crowd would definitely improve the overall feel. Of course, once more people have seen the movie, I'm sure there will be more reaction from the crowd.

However, points to Disney for Anger's head actually lighting on fire -- that's really cool!

Disney Drops 'The Good Dinosuar' Teaser Trailer!

Pixar's The Good Dinosaur was supposed to open in theaters last year but was pushed to this year after a major rewrite of the script and replacement of the original director. That's why we had no Pixar movies last year, and why every Pixar movie has now been pushed back.

After all that, we've finally gotten a first look at the movie with the arrival of its teaser trailer. Take a look!



I, for one, am eagerly counting down the days till Thanksgiving!

'Inside Out' Coming to Disney Infinity 3.0!

Hold the phone! Your favorite emotions are taking over the Toy Box!

That's right: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust from Pixar's Inside Out can be collected and played with in Disney Infinity 3.0! (And yes, they made another version of the game.)



I'm only slightly disappointed in the design of the characters. For me, they look almost clay-like, thus different from other characters already available in Disney Infinity. Maybe it's really just me, but just take a look at Sadness...see it?

No? Okay. Moving on.

Pixar's ‘Inside out’ Teaser Trailer is Fantastic!

(I haven’t posted much about Pixar’s Inside Out, and I’m not really sure why…)

Today, I received an email from Disney, and the subject line read “Watch the new teaser trailer for Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out” – I had no idea there was going to be a trailer released!

I absolutely love how they used footage from each of their movies, especially the shots for “sadness.” Who doesn’t shed a tear seeing Sulley hug Boo goodbye, or Woody saying, “So long, partner” as Andy heads off to college?

And speaking of Sadness, who else wants to give her a big hug at the end?

All in all, bravo, Pixar.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Be Serenaded by this First Clip from Pixar's 'Lava'

We finally get our first look at the animation, voice talent and music from Pixar’s upcoming short Lava.

In the exclusive clip from Yahoo!, the volcano Uku sings of his dream: to one day find a true love of his own. Uku’s voice is simply beautiful to listen to – I’m already in love with the notes he sings (especially "I have a dream") with the ukulele accompaniment.

And Dewey, turns out it isn’t James Earl Jones playing Uku.  Instead, Uku will be played by Hawaiian entertainer Kuana Torres Kahele.



I’m also entranced by the animation of the volcanic flames (lava?) spurting from Uku, as well as the way the same flames (lava?) glow under the clouds during the time-lapse.  I'm fascinated by the column of smoke rising from Uku, and the way the colors look so vibrant in the clouds and sky during the time-lapse.

Makes me wish I was an animator.

Lava is currently showing at film festivals around the globe, but will premiere theatrically in front of Inside Out in June 2015.

‘Lava’ Character and Plot Details!

LA Times just released details about the plot and characters of Pixar’s upcoming short Lava.

This is Uku, and as LA Times described him, “he’s rusty and prone to eruptions, but with a warm core underneath -- the kind of man James Earl Jones might play.”

But guess what?  He’s a volcano.

Amazing character design, right?  I love how Uku’s inlet gives him the appearance of protective arms.

As for the plot of Lava, LA Times states:

The seven-minute musical love story between two mountains -- Uku and Lele -- will premiere at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan in August.

Pixar is always thinking outside the box with their love stories, and I’m positive this one will be just as touching as The Blue Umbrella.

Final note: is LA Times hinting James Earl Jones will play Uku?  Or is that merely for description alone?

Lava will play before Inside Out, opening June 19, 2015.

Upcoming Pixar Short: ‘Lava’

After moving The Good Dinosaur to 2015, the next Pixar feature film will be Inside Out.

(And quick side note, that means this is the first year without a Pixar feature film since 2005…)

Just announced, the short to play before Inside Out will be titled Lava.  Below is the official synopsis:

Inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes, Lava is a musical love story that takes place over millions of years.

Lava is to be directed by James Ford Murphy.

What do you think?  I’m curious about the “musical love story that takes place over millions of years” part, but Pixar has always created phenomenal short films, so I’m not at all worried!

Au Revoir Chef Remy!

You shall be sorely missed!

Remy, the pint-sized star of Disney-Pixar’s Ratatouille, finally got his wish to become a chef!  Because at Les Chefs de France, a restaurant at the French pavilion in Epcot, Chef Remy meets his guests as they eat, an appearance brought to life by the animatronic magic of the Disney Imagineers.

But now, according to DisNews, Remy will no longer be meeting his guests after October 24.  No reason has been given.

Personally, I’m a bit disappointed because I’ve been longing to meet Remy since he first debuted.  Hopefully they’ll bring him back?

Disney Animation News from D23!

So this past weekend, I was up north at my grandma’s house.  But over in California, something else, something much more amazing, was happening.

The D23 Expo.

For those of you who don’t know, D23 is the ultimate Disney fan club, and they now have free membership by the way!  (Which for some reason, I cannot seem to be able to buy, and it’s really frustrating me to no end.)

Now, a lot happens at the D23 Expo, so I’m not going to cover it all.  But I am going to cover what I think is one of the most important events: the animation panel.  This is when Disney reveals the upcoming animated films, which for me is very exciting.

So let’s dive in!

A Life-Size WALL-E!

Okay, this is seriously one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

I’m not geeky enough to understand all the technical building stuff, but McMasters’ WALL-E is simply spectacular!  Can you imagine all the dedication he had to go through to get the final robot?

I do want to point out that Disney Imagineers created an animatronic version of WALL-E, a lot like this one, and have had him appear at D23, but the fact that a regular guy created WALL-E basically just because he wanted to is amazing.  Wow!

Where can I buy one?

Or I guess, who wants to help me build one?

Interesting to note, I thought it was funny how Michael McMaster, when referring to WALL-E,  called it “the first movie”.  Possible hint?  Nah, I think it was just a honest mistake.

Monsters University: A Review

Boo!

Did I scare you? No?  Darn!  Well, I guess I better ask my pals Sulley and Mike for some tips…

Yes, I did go to Disney-Pixar’s Monsters University Friday night.  Originally, it was just going to be Bestie and I, but her parents decided to come along too, which was fine by me!

Surprisingly, they were playing the movie in a smaller theater room, and it was very crowded when we got there (so get there early!).  The only place with five seats exactly (her older brother came along too) was right in the second row, basically six feet from the screen.  So yeah, not exactly the most comfortable I’ve been to see a movie…

Just want to quickly mention about the Frozen trailer that played before the movie: I had mentioned the teaser earlier, and indeed the one before Monsters University was the exact same teaser from the previous post.  A bit of a disappointment: I’d at least like to see some footage from the film!  And there was also a trailer for Planes, Disney’s next feature this summer, but I got the feeling (have had the feeling) that Planes is going to be very much like Cars, just in the air.

Before I begin my review, I want to state that I am not very familiar with the first movie, Monsters, Inc.  The mechanical child scared me when I was younger, and still kind of does, for reasons I do not want to discuss.  But I do enjoy the story of the first movie, and I think I know enough about it to be able to make comparisons between it and its new sequel.  However, this is just me saying that I may make a wrong assumption about Monsters, Inc., but now you’ll know why.

Now, grab that popcorn, settle back in your seat, and enjoy the show….

Wow, I Wish I Could Speak Whale…

I love Ellen.

She’s one of the few comedians who can make me genuinely laugh out loud.

And the best part?

She plays my probably absolute favorite Pixar character: Dory.

Speaking of Dory, doesn’t she know (or has she forgotten?) how to speak whale?

Ellen recently shared (below) this online video on her show – a video of two killer whales following a whale-watching boat.  It’s pretty unbelievable.

And the only connection it has to do with Disney is Ellen herself…and her short whale-speak.

Merida’s New Look

NOTE: I promised this post a week ago.  Before I start, please be aware that a lot has happened in those seven short days concerning this controversy, so I will try to sum it up as best I can.

Hopefully, you are aware of our newest Disney Princess Royal Court member – Merida.  If not, I direct you to this previous post.

Along with including Merida in the Royal Court, Disney also is including her in Disney Princess merchandise. To do so, they had to convert her from 3D to a 2D figure.  As they did with Tangled’s Rapunzel.

You’d think this would be simple.

It wasn’t.
