Blogiversary: It's Been Four Years, Y'all!

Just last week, a huge milestone happened. January 14, 2016 marked our four year blogiversary!

Reaction: sing it!
Source link missing.

That's right: my very, very first blog post happened on January 14, 2012. This blog started off as a class assignment, but now it's become something of a passion of mine (even though I just don't have the time to keep up with it lately)!

Inspired by last year's video, I take a look back at 2015 and offer a sneak peek at what's to come in 2016.

Re-branding is a huge step, but I want to make it as seamless as possible. At this point in time, I can't offer an idea of when re-branding will start, but when it happens, trust me -- you'll know. It's going to be very exciting and a little startling, but I hope you'll stick with me through it and see you again after!

Speaking of you, I really can't say it enough: THANK YOU for choosing to follow my blog and interact with me. Each of you is significant to me, and without you, there would be no Molly the Disney Freak.

Every year, I take a look at my follower and milestone numbers. It's a fun way to see how the blog's following has grown over the years. Check it out!

Here's to another year of Disney and memories! See ya all real soon.

DCP: New Role, New Location for Spring 2016!

When I discovered I'd be extending till May for my DCP, all I knew was that I'd be transferring into Attractions. What I didn't know was where I would be, what show or ride I'd be manning -- I didn't know any of the details.

Source link missing.

Someone told me the information would show up on our record card. Someone else told me leaders were handing out the new training schedules.

Turned out my second friend was correct -- and you'll never guess where I'm headed!

That's right: I am headed to DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom! As of now, I don't know if I'll be doing the carnival games, Primeval Whirl, TriceraTop Spin, The Boneyard and/or Dinosaur.

And although I am slightly disappointed in my new location, I'm going to try to make the most of it and create lots of Disney magic for Guests!

I've Arrived at Walt Disney World!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this Disney fanatic is at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Reaction: Crazy!
Source link missing.

To be completely honest with you, I've been here since Monday, which was my check-in/arrival date. Unfortunately, we were running late, so I didn't make it to my actual check-in time, so I'm on the late arrival schedule. But Monday was filled with shopping for supplies and visiting Downtown Disney before finally getting to hit the hay that night!

Dana, Michelle, Miranda and I are all living together in the Commons, with free laundry (such a plus!). Miranda is from our original group of six but went random in the end, so what a lucky coincidence that the girl originally supposed to be my roommate ending up being my roommate!

Tuesday, I had Casting, which is just paperwork saying that yes, I'm a citizen of the Unite States and yes, I am eligible to work in the United States. We also got fingerprinted, which felt very official!

And then today, Wednesday, I had Housing, which basically went over all the rules of living here, who to contact for what, and fun events and activities available for College Program interns.

Now I'm back from my third visit to Downtown Disney, ready to hit the hay for the day!

Be sure to follow all my adventures through #MollyDCP on Instagram.

Live-action ‘Fantasia’ in Development

According to Variety, Disney has announced that a live-action remake of Fantasia is in development, with two writers already attached to the script.

Oh, and to be specific? A live-action remake of the “Night on Bald Mountain” segment.

You know, that one with the really scary demonic being and a bunch of ghosts and dead people?

Bow down before Chernabog.
Image via diehard-disney.tumblr.com

Yeah. That one.

Reaction source link.

Of course, my reaction should be no surprise to you, so I decided to videograph The Disney Mermaid’s honest reaction to the news.

As for my point about live-action or CGI Chernabog (the demonic being), I merely meant: would we be getting an actor for him or a CGI model? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

However, Once Upon a Time did use a CGI version of Chernabog in one episode, giving us an idea of what he might look like.

(And yes, I approved.)

Disney College Program Application!

My friend Sara at the Disney Den introduced me to the Disney College Program a few years ago, and from the moment I heard about it, I knew I wanted to be a part of it!

So it’s simply mind-blowing that just last night, I submitted my application! Dreams really do come true, you know!

Reaction: jumping for joy!
Source

After the application, I was sent the web-based interview, which is a basic personality test, I would say. Simple questions that you would fill out in other job applications during which you describe yourself and your work ethic.

Well, I passed that and scheduled my phone interview for Feb. 16 at 10 p.m. (right after a dress rehearsal – it’ll be hard to focus!). If I pass the phone interview, I’m practically in. If not, then it’s over.

No pressure or anything, right?

As I said in the video, I’ll be sure to continue vlogging/blogging the experience and my journey, but for now, keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for me!

Blogging for Three Years!

Yesterday was very special because it marked the anniversary of when I started this blog. Yesterday, we celebrated three years!

Reaction: crowd cheers!
Source missing.

For a Media Writing assignment back in 2012, I wrote my first post on January 14. I didn’t know what lay ahead for me and had no idea I was in for a great ride!

In honor of the occasion, I look back at 2014 and ahead at 2015 in the video below.

Obviously, the biggest change this year will be the eventual change in name! I personally am leaning toward Molly Loves Mouse, but since I’m writing the blog for YOU, your opinion matters. So please vote below for your pick of the two potential names!

Which name do you prefer?

Molly & Mouse / Molly and the Mouse

As always, THANK YOU to all my loverlies: my fans, my family, my friends, all the strangers who find me on Google. Every single time you click on my blog, you make my day 100x better. This blog wouldn’t be possible without all of YOU.

And as is tradition, here are my annual follower/fan numbers – look how we’ve grown!

Disney Crime Scene at Target!

Due to today being the last day of Christmas, I figured it appropriate to share this Disney Christmas-themed crime scene video. Yes, I meant to share it earlier in December, but never got around to it/forgot about it.

My friend Mark posted this video to my Facebook wall on November 23. Along with it, he wrote:

Molly -- I came upon a terrible crime scene in Target the other day. I don't know what to make of it, but I thought you might know. What do you think?

1000 Facebook Likes/Twitter Followers!

So something pretty darn fantastic happened to me yesterday evening.

I reached 1,000 likes on Facebook!

And probably a month or two ago, I reached 1,000 followers on Twitter!

In honor of both incredible milestones, I made a “live” video from last night while I waited for my Facebook likes to reach 1,000. It wasn’t posted live, but my reactions were all live reactions. Plus, I posted it basically right away, so it felt live, if you get my drift.

In short, watch it below:

Thank you to all of my 1,000 Facebook likes and 1,000 Twitter followers (both of which continue to climb daily), and I can’t wait for the next 1,000 to join us!

Special thanks to Dani MacInnes for being my 1000th like and Princess Laura (@DisneyRosary) for being my 1000th follower!

Reaction: jumping for joy!

'Let it Go' Cover: My Entry for 'Sing Your Heart Out'

I can’t recall when they first announced the “Sing Your Heart Out” contest, hosted by Disney and Kohls, but it was awhile ago.

After hearing about the contest, I shared this on the Blog’s Facebook page, and my fans there gave me lots of encouragement.

So even though I put off entering (mainly out of self-conscious hate of my own singing voice), I finally uploaded my entry video last night – took me two hours because Disney’s website would not work!

Disney will be posted a selection of video entries on October 16, but the judges have until October 6 to pick the finalists. For now, I’ve uploaded my entry to YouTube as well, for anyone to enjoy (but especially my loverly followers).

Wish me luck! The ten finalists will be professionally recorded, and then you will receive the chance to vote for your favorite of the top ten. The voted winner is then part of the Kohls commercial to air in the last spot during the American Music Awards!

Pretty exciting!

Maleficent Nail Design by TDM!

When we saw Maleficent on Thursday, TDM wanted to do my nails for me.  (She also planned to do my eye makeup, but thank heavens we ran out of time.)

Below is a video of her/our Maleficent character nail design.  Of course, we based them off the original Maleficent, not Angelina Jolie’s version!

I’m Going to Disney World!

Yep, you read that right.

Reaction: can't hold it in anymore!
Source missing.

Video from YouTube. The Disney Freak’s Blog original video.

I cannot express how thrilled I am to return to Walt Disney World for my second trip!  Last time I went (2008), I was not a…fully-fledged Disney Freak, but now that I am, this visit is going to be extra magical!

Reaction: worth celebrating!
Source missing.

Since the recording of that vlog, we have decided to go to Walt Disney World on the Tuesday and Wednesday of our trip: June 17th.and 18th.  As mentioned, the focus of our visit is New Fantasyland, so expect plenty of content!

Bestie, her mom, and I are in the process of planning out our itinerary, which I will vlog about as soon as we finalize everything.  Bestie did personalize our MagicBands recently, so that will also become a vlog soon.  We also have some exciting…clothing news.

So, stay tuned!

Five4Florida: Spring Break 2014!

Exciting news, ya'll!

In a little less than two weeks, my girls and I will be in Florida for spring break!

That's right: Michelle, Molly, Kaihtlyn and Mary are going to Florida March 9-15, 2014!

Reaction: Can't hold it in anymore!
Sources missing.

Reaction: Worth celebrating!

Reaction: yesyesyesyes!

Reaction: excited dance!

We are super excited about the trip.  It's been a long time in the making, as we realized we will never have time to go on a senior spring break -- Kaihtlyn and Mary are studying abroad different semesters next year, and then the three of us other than Mary are all graduating a semester early.  But while we've been planning this trip since last semester, we only recently got fully approved by all of our parents.

Originally, our friend Tara was going to join us but after some disagreements, she is potentially not coming.

We'll be staying at Kaihtlyn's aunt house in Florida, and Michelle is driving us down there and back.  It's going to be quite the adventure!

Previously, we tossed around the idea of going to Disney World for a day (how can you go to Florida and not go to Disney World?!) but because of financials, that's out of the question.  (Super sad face!)

Of course, I will still blog/vlog for all of you guys here, but we have created a Wordpress blog so everyone can take turns posting for friends and family to see.

So please, keep up with our Five4Florida: Spring Break 2014 adventure by checking out our blog HERE.

Costumes for Festival of Fantasy!

We just got a glimpse at a few of the fantasmic floats coming to Magic Kingdom’s newest parade, Festival of Fantasy (debuting in March this year).

Now we get a look at the (also) fantasmic costumes!

Video from YouTube.

If I were to describe these costumes in two words, those two words would be, simply:

Colorful awesomeness!

Capture2
Thumbs up!
This is a cool costume, but I have no idea what float it's for!
Video capture taken from included video by MollyTDF

But obviously there’s more to this post than just that.

Wow, there’s plenty of color and pop in these costumes!  Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is my favorite (by far) for both the music and the costumes.  Well, Festival of Fantasy is looking like a big contender!  Provided that the music is just as great as these costumes!

Honestly, I do love all the costumes in the clip, but my favorite is definitely the “Ravens.”  I’m assuming these winged bad boys will be walking alongside the steampunk Maleficent float.  Man, would I do anything to own one of those pairs of wings!

Image from the Disney Freaks Blog.

Similar to the “Ravens,” the fire-themed, phoenix-like costume looks freaking awesome!  No idea what float it could be for, but I’m excited to find out.

Capture

I think my third favorite are the revamped Lost Boys costumes.  They adhere to the originals while giving them a more hipster look, which I think works perfectly well!

Image from the Disney Parks Blog.

As for the rest, well: colorful awesomeness!

can't hold it in anymore
Reaction: Just can't hold it in anymore!

Molly and Mini Maleficent Discuss “Maleficent”

The Disney Freak’s Blog is hurriedly approaching its second anniversary, and I know that for a really long time I have been ranting about how unexcited I am for the upcoming “Maleficent” movie starring Angelina Jolie (due in 2014).

And I also realize that I have been putting off a post with the reasons why I’m unexcited.

I’m not going to be getting to that post quite yet (sorry, again), but I did take the time to do a vlog about why I’m unimpressed (and a bit pissed) about the trailer that came out about a month ago.

First watch the trailer below:

Both videos from YouTube.

Next, watch out this discussion Mini Maleficent and I had about the trailer:

The Disney Freak’s Blog Original Video.

I apologize for how tense I got….

This time, I promise, I will get to that vlog/post about the reasons why I dislike the movie itself.  Until then, please be patient!

Oh, and merry merry Christmas!

Confession Time

One of the latest confessions from Walt Disney Confessions is as follows:

Image from waltdisneyconfessions.tumblr.com

I'll admit, this isn't actually my confession but in a way it is.  I didn't send it in, but I actually had the same experience.

When I went to Disney World back in 2008, I didn't have the full appreciation (er, obsession) for Disney that I have now.  While I certainly enjoyed the trip and loved it all -- one of my childhood dreams coming true -- I would enjoy it so much more if I went again.

Which is why three young ladies who live with me...dun dun dun...need to hurry up and make up their minds about next semester.

Au Revoir Chef Remy!

You shall be sorely missed!

Remy, the pint-sized star of Disney-Pixar’s Ratatouille, finally got his wish to become a chef!  Because at Les Chefs de France, a restaurant at the French pavilion in Epcot, Chef Remy meets his guests as they eat, an appearance brought to life by the animatronic magic of the Disney Imagineers.

Both videos from YouTube.

Isn’t he just adorable?!

But now, according to DisNews, Remy will no longer be meeting his guests after October 24.  No reason has been given.

Reaction: sad day.

Personally, I’m a bit disappointed because I’ve been longing to meet Remy since he first debuted.  Hopefully they’ll bring him back?

Even Remy doesn't know!

See you all soon!

(PS: As I was writing this, my roommate wrote her own blog post on how life is not a Disney movie.  Awkward.  Just kidding.  But seriously, we're not on speaking terms.  Just kidding again.)

Disney Concert Tonight!

This is the news blurb Benedictine College has been sending out via their email newsletter:

Join the BC Chamber Singers and the Concert Chorale for ‘A Night of Disney Magic’ on Saturday, Oct. 5.   The program will feature selections from 5 decades of Disney classic movies, including Beauty and the Beast, It’s a Small World, Hercules, The Lion King and many more.  Performances will be presented at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. in O’Malley-McAllister Auditorium.   The groups are under the direction of Dr. Sean Teets, and will be accompanied by Laura Moreno, piano, Rachel Gallagher, guitar, and Grace Kirwan, percussion.  Admission is $2 for adults, and $1 for students (5 & up).

I’m so excited to see this tonight!  (Provided I can get off work early enough…)

Poster for the event.
Picture taken by Molly THE Disney Freak.

Literally everyone who knows me and my Disney “Freakness” has been telling me, “Molly, I thought of you when I heard about the Pops Concert!  Are you going?” and I reply, “What kind of question is that?!”

I actually did a really-really-excited-because-I-can’t-wait-to-go dance in Walmart last night…

Reaction: Excited dance!

Tonight, I’ll probably be silently singing along to every word.

Tune in again soon for a video of (hopefully) the entire show!

“Glow with the Show” at Walt Disney World!

So ya’ll remember how excited I was over the “Glow with the Show” Mickey Mouse ears?

(If you don’t, I’ll give you a moment to click here and here in order to rediscover.)

But guess what?!

The ears are coming to Walt Disney World!

dizzingly good
Reaction: Dizzyingly good.
GIF source

According to Alt Disney World (follow if you haven’t!), “the light-up hats will debut at Hollywood Studio's Fantasmic show on Oct. 15, the 15th anniversary of the show. A few days later on Oct. 19, they will synchronize with the 'Wishes' fireworks show and 'Celebrate the Magic' show at Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom.”

I think it’s so cool to consider yourself “part of the show” when you wear these ears.  To get an idea of what I mean, check out this video of the crowd at World of Color at Disneyland.

Video from YouTube.

The ears apparently cost $25.  And when a certain girl goes to Disney World next year…she’s buying a pair!
