Oscars 2015: Disney Wins Two Awards!

Congratulations to Disney for winning two Oscars during the awards ceremony Sunday night! (Personally, I think Into the Woods and Guardians of the Galaxy were robbed, but I’m glad Disney won at least two.)

Big Hero 6, of course, took home the prize for Best Animated Feature Film – much deserved!

After How to Train Your Dragon 2 won the Golden Globe for the same category, I prayed Big Hero 6 wouldn't get robbed of the Oscar.

And Feast, the short film that premiered before Big Hero 6, took home the companion award for Best Animated Short. Again, well-deserved.

Speaking of Big Hero 6 (for the fourth time), today you can pick up your copy on Blu-ray and DVD. I’ll definitely be getting one myself!

See you all real soon.

Disney Increases Ticket Prices Today

Disney has increased ticket prices for Walt Disney World parks, and the increase is effective today (Feb. 22, 2015). Significant is the fact that Disney is breaking the $100 ticket price barrier, which can mean a lot to some people.

From my agent, Jennifer Hardy:

Effective Sunday, February 22 it will now cost $105 plus tax for a 1-day, 1-park ticket to the Magic Kingdom. That's a $6 jump.  Disney's other three major parks: Epcot, Hollywood Studios & Animal Kingdom rise a more-modest $3 from $94 to $97. Full Price breakdown below
Here is a list of the new prices:
1-Day, 1-Park Magic Kingdom$105
1-Day, 1-Park Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, & Disney's Animal Kingdom: $97
Florida Resident Premium Annual Pass: $649
Florida Resident Annual Pass: $529
Florida Resident Seasonal Pass$329 before tax, respectively, up from $485 and $319.
Magic Your Way Passes:

2-Day $192
3-Day $275
4-Day $305
5-Day $315
6-Day $325
7-Day $335
Note: the  No-Expiration option is no longer offered.
Water Park Hoppers
Mid-May - Sept $58
Other Times of year: $53 (unchanged)
All prices are pre-taxes.
What do you think of the Disney ticket increase?

Disney College Program Phone Interview!

On Monday, I had my phone interview for the Disney College Program. My father did a mock phone interview with me the week prior, which definitely helped me feel better about the real deal!

The best part about my DCP progress? I discovered my friend Sara  is also applying – which is really cool because I didn’t expect anyone at my college to even knew of the program! She and I would love to be roommates if we're both accepted, and hopefully she’ll appear in these vlogs.

Below, I’ve included two videos. The first shows what I used to help me prepare for the interview – please, feel free to use any of my ideas. The second is my actual phone interview, which will hopefully help you prepare for your own!

So, how did I do? I think it went really well!

The next step for me is my character audition. If I don’t make it to the audition, I’ll be considered for other roles and not for character performer. As my interviewer said, the audition is not absolute, only required if you strongly want a performing role.

Fingers crossed I’m able to make it! My friend Elizabeth lives near my audition and has offered to host my family and I.

See you all real soon.

Katy Perry and her Giant Tiger (Super Bowl XLIX)

So you may or may not be watching the Super Bowl. And you may or may not be watching it just to see Katy Perry perform during the Pepsi Halftime Show.

I’m not judging.

If you did (or even if you didn’t, because I included a video below), you may have noticed in the beginning when Katy came in riding a giant…well, I assume it’s a tiger.

Why am I bringing this up? I say: Disney, let’s get something cool like that at the Parks!

Yes, I know Disney already utilizes giant puppetry, but not quite like this. I’m thinking Disney could incorporate Katy’s tiger puppet into the parades.

For example:

And if you don't know who these two are, you need to go and educate yourself.

As of now, Elliot is merely a float that rolls along, obviously on wheels. But what if black-clad puppeteers were moving his legs, making the experience a little more realistic?

Of course, I’m not saying that Disney should change the classics like this Elliot float. However, we’ve already got something similar to Katy’s tiger in Maleficent at Festival of Fantasy. I just really think there are opportunities for Disney to utilize a giant puppet like Katy’s tiger.

Like, maybe a giant Marshmallow walking puppet? Much better than the one we’ve already seen.

Shout out in the comments below if you have any ideas for Disney in using a puppet like Katy’s tiger!
