Sing-Along with Idina Menzel!

I sing “Let it Go” literally every day, every moment I can.  My roommate Michelle can vouch for that.

Which is why I really really really really (get the idea?) want to go to the Frozen sing-along version, playing in select theaters starting this Friday!

Image reused from previous post.

But neither Michelle or Kaihltyn will drive me to Kansas City, and as much as I would love to go with Bestie and TDM, I’m not walking 7 hours back to Minnesota.

Darn.

Well, for now, I can enjoy this sing-along version of “Let it Go,” and you can do!  Sing like you don’t care who’s listening!  (Everyone’s probably jealous of how good you sound anyway.)

Video from YouTube.

Just don’t tell Michelle I found this.

See you all real soon.

Are you going to the sing-along Frozen?  When and where?

Festival of Fantasy Floats Arrive!

Awhile ago, I shared with you that the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade had ended at Magic Kingdom, to be replaced in March with another parade called Festival of Fantasy.

Well, the floats have arrived!

Video from YouTube.

Float 1: Yes, that is an awesome steampunk Maleficent dragon float – too fantasmic for words!  I literally fangirled when I saw the tweet a few weeks ago about the float because, as you (should) know, Maleficent is one of my favorite Disney characters, especially in her dragon form!  I just hope this isn’t a tie-in to the upcoming movie because, well, you know….

SO FREAKING COOL!
Image via Disney Parks Blog.

Float 2: this float is going to hold Mickey and Minnie.  I love the colors, and I absolutely adore the use of Fantasia characters.  That movie and its characters needs more spotlight at the Disney Parks!

Image from the Disney Parks Blog.

Float 3: Merida will be astride this bagpipe float, with her bear brothers popping out of the drones.  I think it’s funny how Hubert, Hamish, or Harris (whichever one of the three it was) looked limp in the video….odd that Disney let the animatronic/puppetronic hang loose like that in the video.

Love the DunBroch colors on the bagpipe!

Float 4: Can you say WHOA-ho?  (Catch my wordplay there?)  This fantasmic float is going to host Peter Pan and Wendy in the ship, with Captain Hook and Smee on the anchor and Tink in the back.  I absolutely love the different layers and film elements on this float – one of the best!

This float looks huge in the video!
Image from the Disney Parks Blog.

Two floats Disney “forgot” to include in the video are the The Little Mermaid and Tangled floats, which look just as cool as the others.

Interesting that this one doesn't have a clip-art version of the characters...

I. Love. This.

I love the colors on the Ariel float and the fact that it reminds me of my favorite Disney parade (Mickey’s Soundsational Parade), and I can’t get over how absolutely astonishing the Tangled float looks.  That one I can’t way to see in person!

What are your thoughts?  I’m thinking we’re in for a pretty fantasmic parade!

Keep in mind these floats won’t be parading in public until March this year!  Book your tickets now with Destinations in Florida, an authorized Disney vacation planner and proud affiliate of The Disney Freak’s Blog!

Disney and the 2014 Oscars (Part 2)

So who got snubbed this year?

Kaihtlyn and I sat down to discuss the 2014 Oscar snubs!

Video from YouTube.

What do you think?  Do you agree these people and movies got snubbed?  Any other snubs, in your opinion?  Who are you rooting for?  Comment below with your thoughts!

(PS: Kaihtlyn and I hope you enjoyed our humor with Monsters University – she’s a huge MU freak!)

Hear Elsa in 25 Different Languages!

If you, like me, think Idina Menzel is incredible as Elsa in the song “Let it Go,” then you need to hear Elsa sing it in 24 other languages.

Video from YouTube.

Which language do you like best?  I thought Japanese was pretty cool, and I’d like to hear more of the Portuguese and Danish singers.

Frozen was actually translated into 41 languages, so I’m kind of sad we didn't see more in the clip.

But wow, Elsa sounds amazing no matter what language she’s singing in, don’t you agree?

And just a last note about Frozen, this Friday in select theaters, a sing-along version will be playing.  Are you going to go?

Image from pixiedustdaily.com post.

I am so freaking excited for the sing-along, but ten bucks it won’t be playing at the sketchy Atchison theater.

See ya all real soon!

4-Year-Old Twins Sing “Let it Go”!

4-year-old twins Maddie and Zoe love “Let it Go” from Frozen so much that they covered the song, and their daddy filmed and posted it on YouTube.

Even Oh My Disney featured it on their blog!

Video from YouTube.

I loved it when the one girl started yawning as she sang.

Image from Google search.

But Zoe and Maddie aren’t the first toddlers to cover the song.  I’ll be sharing 4-year-old Ella’s take on the popular Disney tune soon!

So, I’ll see you all real soon!

(Oh and PS: it's been announced Frozen will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack March 18!)

Annie Leibovitz’s Merida

Just today, the Disney Parks Blog released the newest addition to the Disney Dream Portraits series, in which famous celebrities pose as Disney characters to be magically photographed by Annie Leibovitz.

This newest addition is of Merida, the feisty protagonist of Brave, portrayed by actress Jessica Chastain.

Merida and Angus from Brave for comparison.
Image from Forbes after a Google search.

While I absolutely love Annie Leibovitz’s work in this series, I’m a bit on the fence for this one because Jessica Chastain just looks…too old to play our young Scottish princess…it’s weird because I feel like I’m looking at an aged Merida, in her early twenties.  Angus’ face also seems a bit out of focus, but that’s nit-picking.

I do have to say, I love how perfect Jessica's hair is!

On the Disney Parks Blog post, many fans are commenting that Disney should release a book with all the portraits in the series (either now or whenever it’s completed). I wholeheartedly agree – I’d buy it in a second!

Tune in tomorrow for an update with a behind-the-scenes video.

What do you think of the new portrait overall and the casting of Jessica Chastain?  Who do you think Annie Leibovitz should do next for the series?

A Tearful But Grateful Farewell

Disney fans, you might want to get some tissues ready.

On Jan. 4, 2013, Disney cast members and fans alike said farewell to the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade at the Magic Kingdom after the parade’s nearly five-year run.

Video from YouTube.

According to Wikipedia’s article on the Magic Kingdom parades:

The Share A Dream Come True Parade which ran from 2001 until 2006 was changed to the Disney Dreams Come True Parade in 2006 and ended on January 22, 2009. The Share A Dream Come True Parade had the Disney style floats with original music and characters but incorporated snow globes which held many of the characters. The Disney Dreams Come True Parade was similar to the previous parade, though many of the floats were changed, and the snow globes were removed. This parade also had new soundtrack which was previously been used for Disney's Dreams on Parade... Moving On at Tokyo Disneyland. The Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade replaced the Disney Dreams Come True Parade on January 23, 2009. The parade incorporated the new What Will You Celebrate? theme that both the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland were using.

Celebrate a Dream Come True is being replaced with a new daytime parade called Festival of Fantasy, slated to debut in March 2014.

The Weirdest Present Ever Received

We watched Cinderella late last night/early this morning, which made me remember this story….

It was the last day of freshman year.  Roomie had left just a few hours earlier, headed back home for summer break.  My dad had just arrived to help me pack up the car and take me home.

As I brought my stuff into the hall for him to take to the van, I realized someone had left a present outside my door.

Now I don’t know if whoever left it there meant it as a joke or what, but the present wasn’t anything I would have been expecting.

Saving Mr. Banks: A Review

Happy New Year, Disney Freaks!  Here’s to a great 2014!
