Looks Like the Start to a Monstrous Summer!

I may be at Benedictine College now, but I can guarantee that come June 21, I will happily be on another campus!  “Where?” you might ask.  Monsters University campus, that’s where!

So if you didn’t get my “joke” there, what I mean is that I’ll be going to see the new movie Monsters University, the Pixar prequel to Monsters, Inc., when it comes out in June.

To celebrate the upcoming release, Disney has started an event called “Monstrous Summer!” at both ends of the US: Disney World in Florida and Disneyland Park in California!

Remember One More Disney Day last year?

Well, Monstrous Summer also has an all-nighter event going on during Memorial Weekend24 hours straight from May 24 to May 25.

And to announce the upcoming all-nighter, Mike Wazowski himself took over Spaceship Earth.

Video from YouTube.

Not only that, but both scary stars of the flicks are soon to do meet and greets in their college attire.  Sulley now sports his college jacket, while Mike has a MU hat and retainer.

Video from YouTube.

While they’ve only met the media and Disney employees so far, “Mike and Sulley will soon be personally meeting and greeting with guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in their collegiate attire at the Monsters University Student Union, complete with a view of the campus.”

For more about the events during this Monstrous Summer, check out any of the links.

Who’s ready for one Monstrous Summer?

See ya all real soon!

Shere Khan and Tigger

Ever wondered if Shere Khan is a Tigger?

Well, of course, he isn’t.  Tigger himself says: “I’m the only one!”

But what if?

Luckily, with the online world, anything is possible.  And so I thought I would share, for your entertainment, a video of Shere Khan singingThe Wonderful Thing about Tiggers.”  It’s simply hilarious, especially the ending.

You will never look at Tigger (or Shere Khan) the same way again.

Video from YouTube. What’s your favorite part?

In honor of Tigger and Shere Khan, ttfn!
(For the link, Mortimer Mouse gives an interesting comment about these two tigers...see if you can find it!)

When I See An Elephant Fly!

Well, now I've seen everything!

I guess I was wrong in a previous post because….

Dumbo isn't the only flying elephant apparently! Video from YouTube.

Thought this was too cute not to share.  I’ll admit, I meant to share it sooner, closer to when I posted the other post, but oh well.

ttfn!

(PS: I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.  I have been really bored and tired with school, so I've procrastinated on homework and watched movies instead or hung out with my future roommates.  I honestly forgot about posting!)

Happy 13th, Jackie!

Today’s a pretty big day for one of my favorite singers, someone who has an amazing gift: the voice of (seriously) an angel.

Today is Jackie Evancho’s 13th birthday!  She’s a teenager!

But does she sound her age when she sings?

Not at all.

I’ll show you in a second.

Jackie’s most recent album is titled Songs from the Silver Screen, which features several favorites from popular musical films.  The Phantom of the Opera, for example, one of my favorites.  But most importantly of all, Jackie' included songs from The Lion King, Tangled, and even Mulan.

So in honor of her birthday, I thought I would share a clip of her rendition (mind-blowing!) of “I See the Light,” featuring her big brother Jacob.

Video from YouTube.

Keep singing Jackie and inspiring us all!  Hope you have a wonderful birthday!

ttfn!  What do you think of Jackie’s voice?  Her rendition of “I See the Light”?  Tell me below!

Guess Who’s Excited for ‘Finding Dory’?!

None other than Dory herself!

Wahoo!

Surprised?  Well, Dory’s probably already forgotten about it, so to be honest, I think Ellen may be even more excited.  Check out this video of her sharing the news on her show.

Video from YouTube. Absolutely hilarious. And I am disappointed P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way doesn’t exist at Sydney.

If you’re slow at getting your Disney news (and I admit, sometimes I am too!), Finding Dory is the 2015 sequel to Pixar’s successful film Finding Nemo.  All I know so far is that the sequel will (obviously) focus on Dory, about a year after the first film, with Dory learning some lessons about family.  We’ll learn why she was alone when Marlin found her, and this time the movie will take place along the California coastline.

After years and years of asking Disney and Pixar for a sequel, Ellen said:

"’I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,…I'm not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating 'Toy Story 16.' But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is -- it's got a lot more Dory.”’
(Saad, Nardine. “Ellen DeGeneres rides tidal wave of excitement over 'Finding Dory'Latimes.com.  Los Angeles Times, 3 Apr 2013. Web. 3 Apr. 2013)

Surprisingly, I am really excited for the new movie too.  As I shared via Facebook, at first I didn’t get it – Nemo’s been found, what could a sequel possibly be about? – but once I learned that Dory is taking center stage for the sequel, I got excited!  Who doesn’t love Dory (or Ellen, for that matter)?  Seriously she’s my favorite character from the film.  As long as it’s a decent sequel (so yes, I am a bit hesitant, as always), I will be super pumped for 2015!

But the big question is, who’s ready for this?

Yeah, Ellen, too soon.  Too soon.

ttfn!  Just keep swimming today!

Saddest Moments in Disney History (Part 3)

Here we go again.  Time to make you cry, weep, wail, gush out tears, you name it.

It's time for another "Saddest."

Today I'd like to tell you the story of two untimely friends, who were really supposed to be enemies.  One was the crafty hunter of the forest, red but sly. The other was the faithful pet who hunted the other.  Hunter hunts hunter.  Hound dog after fox.

Copper after Tod.

But they didn't realize that was their destiny.  No.  The two were friends as pup and kit.  They were the "Best of Friends."

All that changed when Tod accidently "caused" the accident of Chief, Copper's mentor.  And Copper swore he'd get Tod for it.  Amos Slade, Copper and Chief's owner, had always wanted a chance to shoot Tod.  So after the accident, Amos marched over to the home of Widow Tweed, Tod's owner.  He told her she couldn't keep him locked up forever.

And Widow Tweed realized he was right.

So the next day, she started her car, Tod hopped into the front seat beside her, and they drove down the road.

This is when the "Saddest" starts.

Video from YouTube. The song/scene is actually titled “Goodbye May Seem Forever.”

Why I consider it one of the "Saddest": Do I really need to explain?

Seriously, I really think that "goodbye" is the hardest word to say out loud.

Sometimes we don't even really mean it. We just out of habit say "Bye Mom!" as we rush out the door to catch the school bus. And then when something unfortunate hits us, we realize just how upsetting goodbyes can be.

I'm pretty sure this ranks very high in terms of "Saddest."

And so that's why.

Widow Tweed looks back one last time at Tod as a
single tear falls down her cheek.
Both images from Disneyscreencaps.com

Tod realizes that this goodbye is forever.
Though my heart is breaking from the start of the song on,
this is where it really hits me.
It doesn't help that my baby looks like a fox!

To be honest, there are actually three "Saddest Moments” in The Fox and the Hound. So I will share the next ones in later Parts of the series...just to mix it up a bit.

Check back again for Part 4, if you want to exercise those eyes a bit more.

See you all real soon!

(PS: Happy April Fools, by the way!  Trust me, I'm not fooling you or anything.)
